Psychotherapy + Psychiatry

We're excited to announce that we are expanding our services to include access to psychiatric support and consultation to our clients through the Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Clinic.

What is the Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Clinic (PMVC)?
  • PMVC is a virtual psychiatry consultation service that allows clients to access psychiatric support online through our clinic.
  • PMVC connects our clinic to a consulting psychiatrist to provide coordinated mental healthcare between your therapist, primary healthcare provider, and a consulting psychiatrist to support collaborative treatment planning.
  • PMVC supports clients in clarifying questions about diagnoses, medication, and therapy direction by receiving recommendations from a consulting psychiatrist.
Who offers the PMVC? Who can access the PMVC?
  • Both clinicians at Orillia Therapy Services, Ricky and Jennelle, support clients in accessing psychiatric consultation through the PMVC.
  • Any active client at Orillia Therapy Services can access PMVC psychiatric consultation support.
  • Clients must have attended a minimum of 3 prior individual psychotherapy sessions with either Ricky or Jennelle and must be committed to ongoing psychotherapy treatment.
How does the PMVC work?
  • Step 1: Speak With Your Therapist
    • Discuss with us if the PMVC is a good fit for your treatment plan and begin the referral process.
  • Step 2: Complete Documentation
    • Complete the referral process with your primary healthcare provider and submit intake forms.
  • Step 3: Meet with a Psychiatrist
    • Receive recommendations and collaborative follow-up care.
What happens after the virtual consultation?
  • Psychiatric Recommendations
    • The Psychiatrist will provide recommendations to your primary healthcare provider and therapist, including diagnoses and recommendations for medication and psychotherapy.
  • Psychotherapy Treatment Planning
    • Your therapist will collaboratively work with you to incorporate psychiatric recommendations into your treatment planning.
  • Primary Healthcare Provider Support
    • Meet with your primary healthcare provider to discuss next steps associated with the psychiatric recommendations.
Additional questions
  • What is the cost?
    • PMVC appointments with Psychiatrists are covered by OHIP. Optional intake onboarding support services for ADHD and Autism assessments are recommended and available for an additional fee.
  • What is the wait time?
    • Current wait times vary between four to eight weeks from the time forms are submitted and are dependent on client, clinician, and Psychiatrist availability.
  • What happens if I don’t have a primary healthcare provider?
    • The Couchiching OHT Unattached Clinic and several local walk-in clinics are available to complete the referral process and provide ongoing care.
  • Does the Virtual Clinic provide assessments and consultations for ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
    • Yes. The Virtual Clinic includes services related to both Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
