Many people aren’t familiar with recreation therapy, yet it’s one of the most practical and helpful tools I’ve used when working with teens in therapy. With over a decade of experience in Recreation Therapy, I’m excited to now bring this unique and engaging approach into my local practice, offering families a therapeutic option that goes beyond traditional talk therapy.

Recreation therapy is a more engaging and creative approach to mental health support. It uses activities like art, movement, games, and creative exercises to help teens express themselves, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills—all in a way that feels more natural and less intimidating. It’s especially effective for teens who may struggle to express themselves verbally or feel resistant to sitting and talking through their emotions.

Having a background in Recreation Therapy allows me to meet teens where they’re at. It adds an extra layer to the therapy experience by creating opportunities for connection, expression, and confidence-building in a way that feels natural and fun. Whether we’re incorporating mindfulness through nature walks or exploring thoughts and feelings through creative projects, these activities become tools for healing and growth.

If you’re looking for adolescent therapy that’s engaging, practical, and grounded in years of experience, I’d love to connect. Recreation Therapy can help your teen build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and feel more empowered in their everyday life.
