Evidence-Based Therapies
We specialize in providing evidence-based therapies to adults and teens, using the most rigorously researched and proven modalities to ensure the highest possible quality of care. These therapies are proven effective in treating many issues, including relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, sleep issues, anger, and addiction.
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – 8-20 sessions
CBT is widely regarded as the “Gold Standard” for mental health treatment. It’s proven effective for treating depression, anxiety, panic, stress, worry, sleep issues, anger management, and relationship issues.
Ricky and Jennelle have hundreds of hours of expert-level CBT training and consultation. They also keep rigorously up-to-date on CBT research and treatment development.
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) – 6-12 sessions
EFT is recognized by the American Psychological Association as having “Strong Research Support” for resolving relationship issues. It was developed by leading researcher and Clinical Psychologist Dr. Sue Johnson to help provide couples with a road map to building loving and connected relationships. It is proven effective for couples experiencing emotional distance, infidelity, distress, conflict, communication difficulties, issues with intimacy, and difficulty connecting.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) – 12 sessions
CPT is a leading treatment for trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CPT has the highest recommendation of the American Psychological Association (APA) treatment guidelines for PTSD. Ricky was trained directly by one of the developers of the treatment, Dr. Candice Monson.
Mindfulness-Based Therapies
Mindfulness-based therapy is most effective for reducing stress, improving self-awareness, increasing focus and attention, and regulating emotion. We have attended intensive mindfulness retreats and maintain a regular mindfulness practice. We have also completed intensive training in Mindful Self-Compassion.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) – 2-8 sessions
Solution-focused brief therapy is most effective for problem-solving, dealing with immediate concerns, and creating a plan to meet personal goals.
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Motivational Interviewing is a leading treatment for people struggling with motivation and/or addiction.
Clinical Supervision
Ricky offers Clinical Supervision to both new and experienced therapists. He completed the 36-hour Clinical Supervision course at Wilfrid Laurier University and we have experienced tremendous personal and professional growth in our own supervision. We have a strong theoretical background, extensive post-graduate clinical training, and we are well-versed in a range of modalities and psychotherapy theory.
